Situation in the Country

After a year-long civil war, Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world. In 2016, it ranked 181 out of 188 countries in the Human Development Index. For several years, additional long dry periods and heavy rains have changed with devastating consequences. The population is constantly confronted with new catastrophes and challenges.

In March 2019, cyclone “Idai” moved across the country and, in addition to terrible destruction, left many dead and injured.

Our Goal

Emergency aid in the particularly affected coastal town of Beira. Medical aid to the population affected by the natural disaster.

Our Activities

Just a few days after the cyclone “Idai” moved across Mozambique, we sent a small emergency response team to provide first aid and to probe the situation on the ground. Quickly a mobile clinic was set up and the reconstruction of some wells taken over to ensure the supply of clean drinking water. Currently, we help with the reconstruction of a hospital and the care of patients on site.
