Start of a new aid operation

While the international focus is on the establishment of a UN peacekeeping force and its future competences under the UN mandate, since today, 25 August 2006, for the first time a team from Cap Anamur is in Lebanon – despite the locally unstable ceasefire. Between 1983 and 1985, Cap Anamur had helped the to rebuild the country before, which had been severely disturbed by the civil war. The central task of the field team is to evaluate ways to provide the returning refugees with medical care and how to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure in the southern Tyros region, which has been particularly affected by the war damage.
