Five newborns on New Year’s Day
The new year startet with a lot of work in Uganda. Elena Prögler was the nurse that
helped give birth to the first Cap-Anamur new-year’s baby in our hospital in Moyo.
The little girl was born in good health at 2.30pm on the 1st of January. Four more
children were born that day in our hospital and all of them were healthy girls. Two of
the mothers were refugees from the southern Sudan and the other three were from Uganda.
Cap Anamur-nurse Elena Prögler described: “The beginning of the new year was very
turbulent and exhausting. But the five mothers with their five healthy daughters
were a great delight. The new year is bursting with women’s power.”
Costruction projects reach the next stage
Our technician Peter Schumacher is also looking back at his completed projects at the
beginning of the new year, pleased with how they turned out. For instance the first new
employee accomodations, near the hospital, are ready to be moved into. Besides different
renovations, every accomodation also got a small kitchen outside the living area, to avoid
cooking with charcoal on the inside. The building once was one of the least liked to
move into and has now become one of the most favorited by the local employees. Another
second housing block is going to be move-in ready in the near future. Also the hospital is
now provided with enough fresh water through the pump and waterpipe installed by us.
